As promised, here is another page of stuff from Knights. As usual, I'd LOVE to know what you think of it!

As a side note, I put down a flat grey tone over the bg, which I will "tweak" a bit to give more depth in the final version.

The Amazing David Finch!!

Hey fellow Knights,

Just to let you know, artist extrordinaire, David Finch has a blog site up featuring his amazing work. It has some really, really cool stuff. I can't tell you guys how much I admire David's work. His character stuff is really fun, and if you haven't checked out some of his feature development stuff in films like Watchmen, well, what are you waiting for? He has really cool development projects going as well. Can't wait to see what transpires on them in the future!!

Oh, and his comic work is amazing as well!!

Hey all,

More pages will be forthcoming very soon. Work progresses at a pretty good clip.

So I will be posting some more art for your naked steaming eyes very shortly.

I know most of you can't wait, so I will be posting a teaser image in the next couple of days...

Seriously, I do love all of the love being thrown my way. It is very gratifying to know that people I respect and admire think I'm doing a good job with Knights. You have no idea how inspiring that is to me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!!

Unused Character designs for animated pitch

Here are some designs from the aborted pitch I had done for Disney and Nickelodeon. The designs are by the super talented Chris Sasaki. It is a damn shame nothing ever came of these...

First up is Juan Carlos Martinez, our intrepid boy inventor/hero, and his Knights persona, the Monkey Knight!!

Just wanted to send a big Knights shout out to the Magnificent Beth Sleven, and Karmic Kelsey Mann, who lent their time and talent to help yours truly out with setting up this blog.

Especially Ms. Sleven, who I'm sure had better things to do on a Sunday night to help me reconfigure the page you are reading.

I'm such a newbie to the blogosphere, but with such good friends, I'm catching up fast!

Congrats Pens!!

I know this is a couple of days old, but congratulations to my Pittsburgh Penguins for bringing home the cup!!! It was a hard fought battle with a great and valiant opponent, Detroit.

Okay, the first of the finished pages are done. This baby still needs to be colored, which will add

something else to it. So maybe "finished" isn't the right word.

I am pretty pleased, and am a couple of more pages into this.

More unused character designs

Hey Guys and Gals,

Whilst I'm busy finishing up pages from the roughs, I thought I'd post more unused character designs.  I have included the Jaguar God, who I designed here as a dude, but he is now a she.

So out with this (kinda cool) design.  A shame, as I really like the look.  Maybe he'll make a comeback in a future ish, ya' never know.

The book is based on Mayan/Aztec mythology so I am using the gods of said myths to be the heroes and villains of the book.

Unused Character designs

Some images from character designs that I may or may not use.  I am debating using the middle

one of the Snake Knight, I may use the design but probably NOT for her.  These were when I was developing the project for Cartoon Network, and going back and looking at them now, I still really really like 'em!..I dunno, what do you guys think?

Finished up the first chapter of Knights this afternoon.  I am very pleased with the first book, and can't wait to start doing actual pages for you to see.

My main focus to make sure that everyone really gets these character's personalities.  It went a lot smoother than I anticipated, probably because I've had these characters and their story in my head for a long time now.  Although it went from 8 pages to 16 to 22 to 45!!  I let them do the talking and didn't try to "rush" them so it came out to what it came out to.  I may try to trim here and there, but honestly, I found the story needed the room.

After several years of pitching this concept to Cartoon Network, Disney, Nelvana and getting a favorable response from all, only to have it dashed or "tweaked" to a point of unrecognizability,

I finally feels good to do this on my own.  The way I always intended.

There are so many stories to tell, that I want to make sure the origin isn't boring or feels rote.

I am confident that by the time it is completely finished, it won't .

Thumbs for first issue nearly complete!

Hey All!!

Spent the last week finishing up the thumbnails for issue one.

It will be about 45 pages in all, up from the 16 I originally intended.  

Whew, it is a lot of work.  But somehow much easier than I thought too.  Although it only tells about half of the origin story.  

Can't wait to start producing the pages.
